#AbledsAreWeird Goes Viral
The hashtag #AbledsAreWeird went viral on Twitter a while back, encouraging people to talk about the strange encounters they’ve had with abled individuals. Some of the stories are wild! If you’re looking for some entertainment or just a sense of solidarity, check out the hashtag here.
It got me thinking about some of the things I’ve experienced. I don’t have a service dog anymore, but when I did, I often had people come up to me and offer the strangest comments. One time I was at the State Fair and someone said she was a beautiful dog, which is all well and good, but then he went on to ask if she talked to people! My parents and I refer to it all the time.
