  How a screening can detect if you’re an SMA carrier

  The decision to screen for genetic diseases like SMA or cystic fibrosis is very personal. While anyone may choose to get tested, only those who are at risk of being a carrier due to a family history of SMA or a similar disease are advised to undergo screening before deciding to start a family.
