President Trump signed the “Right To Try” bill into effect yesterday, which is designed to make it easier for patients with terminal illnesses to access drugs and treatments that have yet to be fully approved by the FDA. Drugs that have passed phase one of a clinical trial stage are supposedly qualified for this category. You can read about the bill here: https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2018/05/30/politics/right-to-try-donald-trump/index.html

This story has already generated some discussion in the SMA community on social media, and I’m curious to hear your thoughts. The bill does not necessarily require pharmaceutical companies to administer a drug to a patient, and I’m sure there are other logistical factors that come into play.

Nevertheless, this is a big story. What do you all think? Do you think this will have an impact on the SMA community?
