Hey everyone! Hope you’re all having a great week so far.
Check out my latest column here. Everyone who knows me knows that I’m a lifelong movie buff. For me though, movies do a lot more than just entertain. They inspire me, and can even teach me lessons about living with SMA. Even if they’re not explicitly about disability, I can still glean…[Read more]

Hey Mike. Yeah the catheter I use has the standard leg bag, and I’ve never used one with a valve. Though it is an option. If you have any other questions about the external catheter, let me know. It is a great option, and I love not having to transfer every time I have to go.

I’ve always been a very avid reader also. When I had to stop reading actual books, the Kindle and its apps had not been developed yet, so I was heartbroken to lose my favorite pastime. I used to read anything from books to newspapers to magazines – whatever I could get my hands on. Yes, it was a depressing time without my dear friends of the l…[Read more]

Hey everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend.
For today’s Motivation Monday topic, I wanted to talk about the hashtag #10YearChallenge. This is a popular trend on social media right now, and it’s fun. It encourages users to post a picture of themselves from 2009, next to one of them from 2019. The idea is to see how much people have changed…[Read more]

We like to make all kinds of peas & beans in the crock pot. Our most recent was black beans with onions & green bell peppers & spices. We then serve it over rice. I can’t chew the meat very well, but Jack likes andouille sausage in it also. It gives the beans a good flavor. A few weeks before that we made lentil stew. It’s pretty much lentil soup…[Read more]

I’m so glad you brought this up DeAnn because I have an appt also with my new neurologist here in Florida on Dec. 10. I also have Blue Cross Blue Shield from my former job as a Fed employee which covers what Medicare doesn’t pay & it covers all my…[Read more]

Olga,
I’m sorry to hear your brother can’t have the Spinraza injections as he would like. I’ve also had a spinal fusion that put lots of pieces of bone in my back, along my spine to make it grow straighter. Because of this, any kind of injection in my back is next to impossible. Drs. have tried before to do epidurals and cortisone injections with…[Read more]
