Cheerleading With SMA: Brittany’s Story
This video, from Spy Hop Productions shared in 2011, is all about Brittany Crockett, a 16-year-old high school student with type 2 spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). The documentary was made by Russell Williams and shines a positive light on what it’s like to live with a serious disability.
Brittany was diagnosed with the disease at 15 months old and her parents were told it was doubtful that she would live past her second birthday. However, Brittany proved them all wrong and is now excelling in school and is even part of the cheerleading squad. Brittany’s family talks about what her life has been like growing up with SMA.
