In this informative National Geographic Channel video shared by Haikal Mansor in 2011, we find out about muscles, how they work, and what can go wrong with them in the human body.

Read about eight notable people with spinal muscular atrophy.

The video features two people: 31-year-old Jason Dunn and 41-year-old Ami Ankileweitz.  Dunn suffers from dystonia, a debilitating condition which causes his muscles to flex out of shape leading to severe disability and being unable to speak. Ankileweitz lives in Israel and has type 2 spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), a progressive muscle wasting disease.

The video explains what both diseases are and how they affect the men’s muscles in dramatically different ways. Both men lead remarkable lives, living independently and getting the most out of life.
