Managing Finances When You Have SMA
I wanted to start a discussion about financial management. Having SMA or any kind of disability can make it challenging to stay on top of money, and I wanted to ask those of you who are more experienced in this area how you do it.
For me, I pay rent to stay at my parent’s house, cover additional caregiving costs that aren’t covered by the government, pay for when I go out and I set aside additional spending money for my insane book/graphic novel/movie addictions. I also pay a little extra in taxes because I’m self-employed.
What about you all? What kind of system do you have in place? Are you on Medicaid or some kind of disability program?
