How do you ensure smooth appointments?
For me, it was a long week filled with seemingly pointless appointments. However, they weren’t pointless. My ingrown toenail was caught in time not to need invasive treatment or antibiotics. I also established care with a new primary physician who seems receptive. Time will tell. Now at least I can message them through MyChart without playing phone tag.
My neurology visit is also in the rearview mirror, and I’ll continue Evrysdi. Yes, I had to offer my neighbor $50 to drive Mom’s van the 2 1/2 hrs to the appointment because none of the transportation companies had drivers available, but I made it there and back. My neck is killing me having to adapt to another person’s driving style, but at least I have another year to line up my ride for next year. Any volunteers?
However smoothly the appointments went, one glitch stood out. Because I’m a “difficult poke” I had both the PCP and neurologist put in orders so I could do all the labs at once. Do you think orders for both came through by the time of my lab appointment? Nope. Even after messaging my neurology office and the scheduler seeing it in my chart notes, no orders were received from the neurologist at my local clinic.
Three pokes in it dawned on me. What I should’ve done was contact my PCP to put in the additional orders. Oh well, red is flowing into their vials, they’ll get what they get and that’s that. The VGB will have to wait.
Do you have to make sure everything is in order before your appointments?
