My Introduction
Hi everyone! My name is Jasmine, and I’m truly honored to be part of this fantastic community. I live with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) and have always believed in the power of connection, storytelling, and advocacy to make a difference in the world.
I wear a few different hats in life. I’m currently a junior social work student working toward becoming a licensed clinical social worker, and I also proudly volunteer with organizations like the American Red Cross and a local hospice center. Giving back and helping others through times of crisis, grief, or transition has become a calling for me, one that’s deeply rooted in my lived experience and passion for justice and inclusion.
I’m also a columnist for <strong data-start=”832″ data-end=”850″>SMA News Today, a significant platform where I share personal reflections on life, including topics such as living with SMA, mental health, purpose, and identity. Writing allows me to express myself, process emotions, and connect with others who may be navigating similar paths.
When I’m not studying or volunteering, you’ll usually find me curled up enjoying a good psychological thriller or watching true crime documentaries. I’ve always been fascinated by the complexities of the human mind, how trauma shapes individuals, the stories that often go untold, and the importance of looking beyond the surface.
I’m also passionate about creative writing, peer support, and fostering inclusive online communities. I help run virtual support groups and writing circles where people can show up as their authentic selves, reflect, and grow together.
I’m looking forward to connecting with fellow members here, learning from your experiences, cheering each other on, and continuing to build a space where we can be honest, empowered, and fully ourselves. Thanks for welcoming me!
