Christmas Gifts for Children with SMA
Sometimes toys aren’t as inclusive as we’d hope, and with the unique needs that are present when living with SMA, getting gifts can be a challenge.
My parents and I were discussing this recently. When I was little, all I wanted for Christmas was Baby Alive— a doll from the mid-’90s. Being unaware of my physical limitations, I didn’t understand that I wouldn’t be able to play with it on my own. Even so, they bought me that doll and assisted me whenever I wanted to play with it. But, oftentimes, they’d end up buying me electronic toys knowing I could push the buttons and use them independently.
What are some gifts you’re getting for your little ones living with SMA?
