If you could produce a film about SMA, how would you do it?
After writing about how “The Substance” handles body image for my column, I started to wonder what I would do as a filmmaker if I ever got the chance to do a film on SMA. I thought of posing the question to y’all:
What would you highlight? What would you demystify? What would you poke fun at? What genre would your film be in?
For me, I think I would do something like a romcom or a girls’ night out film.
Something in the vein of Someone Great by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson on Netflix. I’d love to explore our different body types and perspectives.
