The Power of Escapism
Happy Tuesday everyone!
So I’m stealing this column from Cystic Fibrosis News Today for this discussion topic: https://cysticfibrosisnewstoday.com/2019/03/04/power-escapism-books-reading/?amp. This is a great piece about escapism, and how it can be a powerful tool for those of us who live with rare diseases.
For me, books, comic books, graphic novels, movies and music provide this kind of sensation that Tre writes about here. I’ve written countless times about the impact that these various storytelling mediums have on me. A few days ago I read Tom King and Mitch Gerads’ comic book series “Mister Miracle.” This book provided me with escapism, but it also is filled with philosophical topics and existential themes.
What about you all? Are there any stories that have this kind of effect on you?
