Using Groups in the ‘SMA News Today’ Forums
The first part of this series provides information on the seven main forum discussions on SMA News Today, as well as how to make a profile and create posts. In addition to the main forums page, there are also three groups which users can join. Two of these groups are private, meaning that only members can view and create posts. The medical professionals group is the only public one, meaning that posts here can be seen by anyone.
The group titles and descriptions are as follows. Once you find one that best suits you, simply send a request to join. A site administrator will be overseeing all membership requests.
SMA Patients (Private): This group is designed for all SMA patients to connect, ask each other questions and share experiences. This group is private, so you must be a member to view and create posts. Anyone with SMA types 1, 2, 3 or 4 is welcome to join.
SMA Parents and Caregivers (Private): This is a private space for SMA parents and caregivers to connect. Whereas the main forum is public, this group offers a more privatized space for parents and caregivers to ask questions and share experiences.
Medical Professionals (Public): This group is for medical professionals to share news and research related to SMA. This is the most business-oriented group here, so please only join if you work in the medical field and have knowledge about SMA. Anything irrelevant or inappropriate will be deleted.
The private groups are designed so that users have a space to discuss more personal topics that they would rather not share on the public forums. If you have any questions or trouble navigating the forums page, leave a comment here or reach out to us on our contact page. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
