When John and Corey Weber learned their 4-month-old daughter, Kate, had SMA type 1, some of their first thoughts were, “Why us?” “Why is our girl 1 in 10,000?”

They chose to turn our lemons into lemonade, and are grateful for science and innovation, the treatments available to them, kind humans like their doctor, and so much more.

“There are many more silver linings, and we know we’ll have more lemons to turn into lemonade. But we continue to feel very grateful and hopeful.”

    You are a beautiful family!

Now back to our SMA community, what are you grateful for?

I love how they took their difficult news and found something to be grateful for, instead. When I’m having a bad day, I often make a gratitude list in my head to try to reframe my thoughts. My gratitude list would be too long to type, but I echo their sentiments. ???? I’d definitely add the SMA community to the list, too!
