Who knows if I’ll do any traveling this summer, but I have the itch to go somewhere new. Of course, accessibility is always at the forefront of my mind when traveling. I have enough horror stories about that. Nevertheless, it doesn’t stop me from exploring different places.

What is the most accessible place you have traveled to?

Hi Alyssa! There’s no better thing to do than travelling, and as a disabled travel blogger I fully encourage you do so! It’s absolutely possible and worth it!

Nowadays, accessibility is improving everywhere, with more and more places being possible! It’s difficult to define a “most accessible” place, but from my experience Spain (for example Barcelona or Bilbao, but many more cities are great too) is a very accessible country overall. Staying in Europe, Austria (and especially Vienna) is amazing too. If you want something different, Japan might be the most accessible country I’ve ever been. In the US you are doing a pretty good job with the ADA too!

Here’s good to say that you can have a great time also in places that are not fully accessible but offer services and opportunities, like in Greece for example, where I live.

I hope that the above are helpful! Happy to discuss further!

This is great to hear!!! We’re headed to Spain next month and I’m a bit nervous about the travel. I was there many years ago when I was stronger and ambulatory. I use a walker now but will take my wheelchair too. We’re planning on renting a car. Any other towns, etc. that are nice to visit? Any must see places? We’re there for 2 weeks. I’m 63 yrs old. Depending on where you live and how far you want to travel there are many places to go in the USA. I have been to many places. One of my favorite places is Niagara Falls. However, I would suggest staying on the United States side. The only reason I say this is because in Canada many of the restaurants were not wheelchair accessible and their sidewalks were made out of bricks which made it difficult to drive my wheelchair. Other than that the waterfalls are beautiful sight to see.

Some other places that I have been include Chicago, New York City, and Gatlinburg TN. Love going to Gatlinburg TN. Everything is wheelchair accessible. Just being in a cabin in the mountains is relaxing and peaceful. Many things to do there such as shopping, shows/plays, mountain lifts, mini golf, state parks, and other attractions. My family and I went there last summer and it was a great time.
