Not only is it SMA conference season, but it is now also the very heat of summer (pun intended). Alexa, play ‘What Time Is It?’ from High School Musical 2!

For those of us who aren’t traveling to conferences (or who maybe just don’t have a full summer packed with them), what are your plans to enjoy these couple of months? Are you going anywhere? Looking forward to anything in particular? Do you have tips that you think will help other SMA patients enjoy the summer better?

I’ll be sharing what I’m up to down below.

Besides hanging out with friends, I don’t really have much going on. 😂 Some suggestions for activities to enjoy the heat instead of just melting in it would be nice. Although, I do have one work event in July.

My nonprofit organization hosts an annual charity golf tournament every August, which is both something I look forward to and something that keeps me busy all summer. My family also rented a beach house for a week in August, so I’m looking forward to that as well.

I absolutely love summer, but I simultaneously hate that the season is so short where I live. To soak up every bit of it, my favorite thing to do is to either work outside on my front porch or lie by the pool and read a book. Going to the beach is an added bonus, too. 😊

What work event do you have in July?

A golf tournament? That sounds really cool. Are you you able to play in any way? Or do you have the fun of just judging?

I have a love-hate relationship with summer myself. It’s when things slow down a bit, but also feels lethargic to me in Singapore’s humid weather.

My work event is an interpretive performance of my children’s book, Loud Little Mermaids. It’s not something that’s usually my speed, but I am looking forward to seeing my mentor/editor again. I haven’t seen her in more than a year.

That sounds fun! I hope everything goes well.

No, I don’t play at all. Honestly, I don’t know how to play either lol. I’m in charge of planning the event and making sure everything runs smoothly. I tell everyone that I can plan a successful golf tournament, but I don’t have a single clue as to how the game works. 😂 While everyone plays golf, I just chill with some of our volunteers for five hours haha.

My wife and I are going on a cruise at the beginning of August with her sister and brother-in-law. It’s our first cruise for all of us. We’re excited, but also a little nervous about dealing with flying. I am looking forward to having a week being disconnected and sitting down with my kindle to finish some books that I’ve been meaning to finish for a while. Beyond that, just work, side work, and house projects.
