Find Jobs with AAPD’s Career Center
It can be difficult to find a job when living with a disability. Some employers refuse to hire people with disabilities, and those that do are often hard to find. On the off chance you find someone willing to accommodate you, the job might be remote, making it impossible for you to apply.
Fortunately, the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) has put together a career center for this very situation. The Career Center has several useful features, including a search tool. You can search by job title, keyword, company, city, state, or Zip. You can also make use of the advanced search tool, which expands the parameters to job categories (e.g., accounting, human resources, telecommunications) and radius up to 150 miles.
AAPD’s Career Center also lets you apply for jobs directly through the site. You can upload your resume several different ways: building it from scratch using their easy-to-use form; importing from Google Drive or LinkedIn; or even just copying and pasting the body of your resume itself. You can upload more than resume, so you can tailor it to the job you’re applying for. If one of your resumes matches the criteria of a posted position, the Career Center will notify you via email.
You can also research using the Career Center. You can browse jobs by category, title, location (i.e., country, state, city) and company. You can even look up salaries using PayScale. If one of the posted jobs catches your attention, you can look up accurate, real-time salaries for that position, which can vary depending on the location.
Finally, if you’re in the market for a specific job, you can set up search alerts. If a position is posted that matches the criteria you specified when creating the alert, the Career Center will notify you via email.
