I just did a podcast this morning with a guy with SMA who’s worked in human resources for almost thirty years. We talked about working with a disability quite a bit on the episode.
For me, the key things for employers to know are:
-Employees with disabilities are fully capable of contributing and taking on the same amount of responsibility as able-bodied employees.
-We will let employers know what accommodations we need. If we need a special kind of equipment, more desk space or a PCA with us in the office, we will notify employers.
-Even with an office job, the option to work from home sometimes is helpful.
Those are some of my points. What about you all?
