Every year, the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) puts on its summer camp for kids with different forms of muscular dystrophy. It’s a great event, and I quite enjoyed it as a kid.

I just wanted to open up a discussion about MDA camp here. Have your kids attended before? What was their experience like? For those whose kids have not attended, is it something you’re looking into? What questions do you have?

I strongly encourage parents of SMA children to let them experience things like MDA camp and the Cure SMA conference. In my opinion, it’s great for them to spend time with other kids with disabilities and to not have to worry about sticking out. I’m not saying make them only hang out with other kids with disabilities, but it’s good for them to have that environment. Feel free to ask me any questions about MDA camp and how to get plugged in to the MDA community.
