  Using an External Catheter

  I’ve posted before that I’ve been using an external catheter for years, and it’s something I recommend other SMA folks at least consider. The external ones are different than the internal ones that they make you use in hospitals. Those are just a pain.

  With an external catheter, I’m much more independent during the day as I don’t have to rely on other people for bathroom needs. I also don’t have to worry about finding an accessible bathroom when I’m on the go. It’s incredibly convenient for me, and it’s really not that hard to put on.

  Have any of you considered wearing a catheter during the day? What questions or reservations do you have about them?
