SMA Couple Talk About Wanting to Start a Family
Starting a family can be a difficult topic to broach when you have a disability. In this video from Channel 4, we meet Jaz and Kelly. Kelly has spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) and is wheelchair-bound.
The couple has been married for 18 months and in the U.K. television program The Lie Detective, they talk candidly about starting a family. Prior to appearing on the show, the couple had never spoken about having children, both wrongly thinking the other wouldn’t want to because of Kelly’s disability.
