The booklet covers some of the feeding problems children and adults with SMA may encounter and how to address them. It talks about accurate ways of measuring growth progress in SMA infants where usual growth chart patterns don’t apply, including weight for length and skinfold thickness.

The information also includes advice about calculating the caloric needs for patients with SMA, along with the types of foods infants and children with the disease may struggle to chew and swallow. Supplementary feeding and feeding tubes are also included in the booklet
