People With Disabilities Talk About How to Talk to Them in Vice Video
Check out this video on Vice, in which three people with disabilities talk about disability stereotypes and how people can better treat them: https://video.vice.com/en_us/video/how-to-treat-a-person-with-disabilities-according-to-people-with-disabilities/5beb1ad4be4077713b4ce7dd?utm_source=vicetwitterus
I think most of us can relate to at least something here. For me it’s getting asked “what happened?”, the inspiration stereotype and being helped when I don’t actually need it. With the last one, I’m always grateful when people offer to help me with something, but I prefer to be asked first. Like they talk about in the video, it’s the assumptions people make that are annoying.
What do you all think of this video? Any takeaways?
