  • Do you have a go-to snack?

Even though I get my main nutrition through a feeding tube I do “cheat” and indulge in a snack or two.

With my physical limitations, I struggle to find options that are not only easy but also affordable and somewhat healthy. Because of my swallowing issues, I avoid nuts and popcorn. One of my favorites is hummus with tortilla chips.

    What are your favorite snacks?

I received a type 2 diabetes diagnosis earlier this year, so I’ve made significant changes to my diet. Now I get most of my snacks through a keto-friendly brand called Catalina Crunch. They’re great. I also like smartfood popcorn.

Thanks! Haven’t heard of that brand. I’ll have to scope it out. Sorry about the diabetes diagnosis. Are you adjusting well to the lifestyle changes? It’s probably wise to eat healthier regardless. I know I could do better.

It was more of an adjustment at the beginning, but I’ve gotten used to it. The dietary changes have been beneficial.

If you don’t mind my asking @kevin-schaefer , what other changes have you made and what are the differences you’ve noticed?

    I’m a snacker.

I love chips, hummus, cheeses, fruits, breads, little snacks of yogurt with granola. Set out a cutting board with all of the above and I will snack mindlessly and happily.

We try to stay with natural options with minimal processing, but reality is reality. If I’m out I make sure I have a GoMacro protein bar or a Kind bar in my purse. Low in sugar and easy to get help to eat them. On days that I’m running late I might have an Ensure.

    Ooh, Smartfood popcorn is tasty.

Also, not sure if this is common knowledge, but if you have EBT (SNAP or food stamps), you can get 50% discount at any farmers markets. At least you can in Florida I don’t know about other states.
