In today’s 31 days of SMA, meet Scarlett, a 4-year-old girl whose mom has SMA. Scarlett tells us what it’s like to have a dad that walks and a mom whose “legs don’t work like mine do.” I have to admit, this was a super sweet story to read.

I don’t have any children but I do have a niece and nephew who are 2 and 4 respectively. They are getting to an age where they want to help me, their “Titi,” do things, and it just warms my heart.

Following other SMA moms and watching how they adapted to their circumstances gives me hope that I can do the same for my niece and nephew. And, reading Scarlett’s perspective on having a parent with SMA was all the more heartwarming to see what it means to her. You can read it here.
