Hey everyone, happy Independence Day! Here’s Kala’s newest column. She talks about the movement against plastic items, and how important they are for those of us with disabilities. This is another outrageous issue in my opinion. I still rely on plastic forks to eat, as I can’t lift metal ones. Now that I have a robotic arm, straws aren’t as important for me, but before I acquired it, I literally couldn’t drink without plastic straws. Kala doesn’t mention it here, but this is also an issue of hydration. It’s imperative to our health. So unless the government wants to buy $53,000 robotic arms for every disabled person, plastic straws must remain available. Other plastic items are still important, but straws are by far the most crucial. What is your opinion on this?
