Hello everyone. Hope you all are doing well.

I wanted to start a series of discussions about acquiring aids/caregivers (I’m good with whatever terminology you prefer). I know people have different approaches to this. Some prefer to rely on their spouse/partner or a family member, while others hire paid assistants. My caregiver has been with me for close to four years now, and I’m looking at hiring some extra help for hours he can’t do. I’m allotted about 40 hours a week from the government, and I pay out of pocket for additional hours. I pretty much require 24/7 assistance, which is why I live at home. I also work with a couple different agencies.

What do you all do though? How is your caregiving plan set up? I’m sure we’ll get a range of perspectives here.
