We all know traveling with SMA isn’t easy. Airplanes aren’t accessible. Hotels don’t always have the accommodations we need for our daily living needs. The list goes on and on.

Nevertheless, traveling doesn’t necessarily have to be impossible. We might just have to get a little creative when it comes to adapting to life on the road. After all, the experiences of exploring someplace new often outweigh the challenges that may come our way.

Based on your personal experiences, do you have any traveling tips for SMA? Any hacks that make traveling easier?

I got nothing, traveling is challenging. I’m not willing to risk my wheelchair being broken on a flight while airlines don’t take responsibility for the damage.

That said, Jose Flores and his wife do a lot of traveling and share their experiences on Instagram. @joseinspires

I’ll have to check out his Instagram. Living in Florida, have you ever been on a cruise? I hear they are pretty accessible. It’s difficult for me to travel to Florida to board a cruise. Though I believe there are ports up my way now.

Yes, it does look hopeful!! Were you able to try out the prototype for yourself?

I’ve been told that some of the modern cruises are much more accessible. That said, we went on a weekend cruise when I was a kid and the main elevators were broken. so I am the wrong person to ask.

Kevin, read about it when you posted. What a simple solution, I love it.
