• Don’t Settle

This past weekend at the Cure SMA conference, the topic of dating and relationships was brought up several times among our adult group. People came with questions, anxieties, experiences and bits of advice on this subject.

During one of these conversations, a friend gave everyone a really important piece of advice: don’t settle. I think it’s easier for those of us with disabilities to fall into this trap. I imagine most of us have dealt with our fair share of rejection or being friend-zoned, and it’s tempting to settle for whoever is willing to be with us at all.

I just want to echo my friend’s advice and say that this is a really unhealthy mentality. The right person will come along, and settling is a good way to destroy a relationship.

That’s all I wanted to say, but feel free to share experiences or ask questions related to this topic.

Great advice!  May be hard to follow, but definitely something to keep in the back of your mind when seeking a relationship.
