In the latest episode of Dose of DeAnn: A Glimpse Into My Life With SMA, DeAnn Runge shares just some of the innovative technology she uses in her everyday life. While technology often makes the majority of people’s lives more convenient, for individuals with SMA it’s closer to a necessity.
Here, DeAnn shows how her Echo Show from Amazon Alexa enables her to open doors in her house. Through the Echo Show’s voice-activated technology and a special box device which connects to the Echo Show, DeAnn is able to open her door without having to move her arms at all. This kind of technology is making it easier for people with SMA and other disabilities to be more independent in their everyday lives.
