Name something nice you did for yourself in March
Posted by sherry-toh on March 29, 2025 at 6:20 amIt’s been a busy, exhausting month for me, with multiple outings. In times like these, I will think of how my friends who are teachers will check in with their students about whether the students are taking care of themselves and doing nice things for themselves. It’s a habit I think can be helpful; so I thought of posting the question here — and if y’all like it, I’ll ask monthly or bimonthly. That way, we can all remind each other to hydrate, take our meds, and treat ourselves.
I’ll start: this month, I went to one of Singapore’s most expensive malls to shop on my own for the first time. It was nice to take my time and not rush to meet anyone’s needs or schedules. I could properly treat myself.
What’s something nice you did for yourself this month?

Such a great idea, Sherry! I don’t check in with myself enough, so this will be a good reminder.
The weather is ever so slowly but surely starting to warm up here in New England. (I say that as we’re about to get snow showers on Thursday.) In March, there were a few warm-ish days when I took some time to decompress outside in the sun. No phone, no emails, no noise — just me and the sounds of nature. It was so good for my soul after being cooped up all winter.
I could go for a little retail therapy, too, though haha. Did you get anything good at the mall?

I’m glad you like the idea! Hopefully it’ll catch on and become a regular thing. ☺️
I have to admit, I’m not much of a nature girl. The buzz of the city is what I like best — phones and emails included. But what you’ve described sounds beautiful. Do you spend a lot of time in nature when the weather is good?
And I did get some stuff from the mall! I was actually there to take advantage of Sephora’s member sale. Got myself Kosas’ tinted moisturiser and concealer, as well as a Rare Beauty concealer for a friend.

Very cool! Are you a regular collector? Do you collect anything else?
-
Yes, I do collect vinyl LPs. I have been collecting since 1975. I also collect compact discs , DVDs and Blu-ray discs. I love flying kites and I have 16 kites.

1975?? That’s incredible! You must have a whole room dedicated to your collections?

My wife and I went to a hockey game with my mom and sister, which was a lot of fun, and not too cold. I would go again for sure. And while it wasn’t necessarily done in March, we finished paying for our cruise that we are going on later this year (we booked it in January). It’s a little stressful trying to figure out all the traveling arrangements, but we are really looking forward to the cruise. Now, if the FFA would hurry up and approve the wheelchair securement spots.

Hockey games are so fun in person!
Where are you going on your cruise? I hear cruises are very accessible, but I’ve never been on one. My chronic dizziness doesn’t like the sea. Have you ever been on one before?

We’re sailing in August on Royal Caribbean. This is my first time going on a cruise. I definitely plan on taking lots of pictures, videos, and documenting it (I’m slowly starting a blog about life and raising a family despite my ability). I am a little nervous about flying though. I don’t like the idea of others handling my wheelchair as they store it in the cargo hold. I really wish the FAA would hurry up and approved the in-cabin wheelchair securement spots Delta Airlines has been working on.

I feel really guilty about this, but I bought a font. 😅 It was a restoration of a classic typewriter font from the 60s. And I’m a sucker for those types of fonts. Love to use them when I’m writing.

If buying fonts is wrong, then I don’t want to be right. I’m such a sucker for fonts. 😆
Where do you usually get yours?
