    New year, new goals?

I’ve been thinking a lot about what goal-setting looks like when you have SMA. Some may hit the ground running. Others may prefer a slow and steady pace. Then, of course, there are the inevitable curveballs SMA throws at us that veer us off course. While this doesn’t stop me from achieving my goals, it makes it difficult to stick to a rigid timeline.

I’m curious, how do you approach the new year? Do you set goals? Do these goals look different now than they did in years past? How do you balance ambition with listening to your body?

There’s no wrong answer here. I just wanted to open a space where everyone could share what they’re working towards or even choosing to let go of this year.

Admittedly, I have not set any goals for this year yet. I’m more of a “hibernate until spring” kind of gal, then I’ll reemerge from my den feeling renewed.

That said, I am going to try to set timelines for my goals when I’m ready. I’ve always avoided this in fear that SMA would hold me back from achieving them. But I want to teach myself that even if I don’t meet them when I was hoping to, I am allowed to give myself grace and recalibrate. That is something I have always struggled with.
