SMA Stories: From Loss to Hope
In this touching video from FightSMA, we meet the Kemp family. Having already suffered the sadness of losing their daughter Madisyn to Type 1 spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) in 2008, Brandon and Patti went on to have three more children.
Find out what the three main symptoms of spinal muscular atrophy are.Â
While daughters Bryanne and Ellery were given clean bills of health, their youngest daughter, Adalyn, was diagnosed with SMA at seven months old. However, the family is much more positive and hopeful this time around. Adalyn has been registered in a clinical trial and is already starting to show some improvement in movement and she can support her head much better. The Kemps are hopeful about their daughter’s future and are amazed at how far medical science has come in the decade since they lost Madisyn.
