I’m currently coordinating a telehealth conference via Zoom with my specialists in Boston due to the health issues I mentioned earlier in the week. And doing so has got me thinking about the countless appointments I’ve had in my lifetime that could have simply taken place by a phone call. All the hours I spent in city traffic for 10-minute appointments, the physical drain being out all day has on my body, feeling as though I could have used my time more wisely, etc etc…

Do you think telehealth conferencing is here to stay even after the pandemic is gone? Unless a person needs an actual physical exam, I think it makes so much more sense for doctors AND their patients. When it comes to this particular new normal, I hope it’s here to stay.

    I sure hope so!
As you said, the idea of going to the hospital to discuss my “routine” care, when I am not having special issues is just frustrating. My Neurologist had already begun scheduling these appointments via teleconference software.

    I am a huge fan.

One can only hope. I’m a fan as well. Haven’t actually done it yet, but have been corresponding via electronic messaging to set up and coordinate some things.

I’m also scheduling my first telehealth call. It will be interesting to see how it goes. My doctors generally try to avoid having me come in to keep me away from germs. This has good potential to allow doctors to see patients with exposing them to the wide variety of germs that try to grow in hospitals and doctors’ offices.

Yup. Had my visit this morning, and I’m officially a big fan. Hopefully there will be more appointments like these— sans pandemic— in the future.
