Today is International Day of Persons With Disabilities, a day that was founded in 1992 to bring awareness to the rights and well-being of those living with disabilities.
I love how there is a day that brings recognition to these issues and gives the chance to educate our able-bodied allies on the many challenges we face in an ableist world. At the same time, I wish we didn’t have to continually fight for our basic rights and were more accepted and understood. Sometimes it’s tiring.
How are you recognizing this day, if at all?
