Hey there everyone, sorry I’ve been MIA for so long. Believe it or not I’m still almost 1 year and a half later dealing with that horrific knee injury. I’m not quite in as bad of shape as I was but it’s still pretty severe. Anywho… I would like to open a discussion about marriage. I have heard many conflicting stories about getting married when you are on Medicaid and the fear of losing services due to double income. Yet I also know of other couples who have gotten married while being on State insurance. Does anyone have any insight on this topic? Or some helpful tips on getting married without jeopardizing insurance and other disability related services required.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any insight for you. I actually have the same questions as you, so I hope someone chimes in. It’s so sad (and ridiculous) that disabled people have to worry about this stuff.

But your knee…omg. I’m so sorry. Is there any relief in sight?

Thanks I’m hoping somebody can weigh in as well. I know there have been some people who have done it I just don’t know their financial situation. But as far as my knee, it’s not quite as bad as it was but it’s still affecting my daily living. As of right now the only relief I’m getting is from cortisone shots and even that’s not that much of a miracle, pain wise

This topic about Medicaid programs affecting married couples remains complicated to understand. Alemedicae eligibility determines through combined marital income but marriage itself does not lead to automatic loss of benefits. Certain couples succeed by predicting future income modifications that might affect Medicaid eligibility.
