So it’s still a rather confusing situation, but here’s an update on the lift. The state sent a couple contractors out to assess the situation, let’s say. The first guy was super optimistic, saying my room was ideal for installing the ceiling lift. Basically the second guy said the opposite, and wasn’t even trying to sell a ceiling lift, but some unit—not a hoyer—that goes on the floor. The saga continues.

I definitely wouldn’t back out just because one person said so. Really, there’s no reason why your house shouldn’t be compatible. In the meantime, you could contact your local MDA chapter to send you a lift. I used just a standard electrical one for years before switching to the ceiling lift.

Listen to the options, then make your decision. Everything has its pros and cons. I’m finding things about the ceiling lift I like and aspects I don’t. Overall I think it was the right decision for me.
