What are you watching? Reading? Listening to?
Posted by deann-r on September 20, 2024 at 9:08 amHibernation season is fast approaching for me. Since I’ll be stuck inside, I’ll be looking for things to keep me entertained.
What are you watching? Reading? Listening to? Is there anything you’re looking forward to?

Ugh, don’t remind me. 😩 I wish summer wasn’t so short. Remind me again what you like to listen to or watch? At this time of year, I love rewatching Gilmore Girls on Netflix. Also, here is my Goodreads list if you’re interested. There are too many books I want to read!

Maybe it’ll be a nice long fall. I’m really open to any genre of music although I usually just gravitate to pop. What streaming services do you get the most out of? I don’t have Netflix atm but have been tempted. So far my Max promo has been my favorite sine they carry my TLC shows. I probably wouldn’t pay full price so I’ll binge while I got it.

I saw two good documentaries recently: “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story” about the late actor, and “Will & Harper” on Netflix. The latter is about Will Ferrell and his friend Harper Steele on a cross-country road trip after Steele’s coming out as a transgender woman.

Just the nudge I needed. You kind of talked me into Netflix for at least a few months. I got in on their $6.99 promo so I think that’s doable for me. Both those docs sound interesting. Might have to catch up on Bridgerton first. Have you seen Squid Games? 👍 👎 ?

My wife and I are currently watching Psych. She’s never seen it, and I have watched bits of the 1st-4th seasons. After that, we will probably dive into Monk. As for reading/listening to, I am currently listening to Brandon Sanderson’s Skyward series. I listen to that any chance I get. I’m also reading the English translation of the Japanese horror novel Parasite Eve (the story that predates the PS1 classic of the same name). If I am not doing one of those things, you can find me playing one of the Final Fantasy games on my phone or Switch.

Good choices. I haven’t seen Monk, but I’m guessing I could get into it. What platform do you get them on? As far as gaming, do you find it easier playing on your phone vs Switch?

I am watching both shows on my Plex server. I ripped the DVDs for both shows and stream them from my Plex server. It’s like my own personal Netflix of my media.
As for playing on the Switch vs my phone, it really depends on what I am playing. With something like the classic Final Fantasy games, I prefer them on my phone, mostly because it is easier to take with me wherever. The Switch is not bad, though I do prefer the Lite variant. It’s lighter and easier to carry vs the standard. Plus, I don’t care if I play on the TV or not. I grew up playing on the GameBoy, DS, and PSP.

My favorite new show is Brilliant Minds with Zachary Quinto. It’s a medical drama based on real life neurologist Dr. Oliver Sacks and his compassionate approach to medicine.
Been dabbling in The Bear and English Teacher on Hulu but I realized out that The Bear can be a little stressful.
When I want something familiar, I dive into The Last Kingdom. Again.
Just started reading Pronoia is the Antidote for Paranoia by Ron Brezsny. Will let you know how that goes.
