Columnist Writes About Summer Storms
Hi everyone! You may have heard about the derecho that swept through the Midwest last week. Ironically, I wrote a column about it, long before I knew the storm affected the rest of the Midwest.
I hate storms. Hate, hate, hate. So when the derecho knocked our power out last Sunday, affecting my BiPAP, I knew I had to write about it. I hope you enjoy some classic Albers shenanigans!
Do you have anxieties when it comes to summer storms and unsettling weather?

I’m kind of the opposite when it comes to storms, I find them fascinating. Actually, I tried to go to school for meteorology, but it didn’t work out. Of course I don’t want the damage or destruction, but a good flash of lighting and crack of thunder can be almost invigorating. For me it’s a break from the mundane realities of day to day life. Many times leading up to a storm the air is oppressively muggy, it takes a storm to break it. Power outages like you experienced would be a challenge. In the summer it’s not as distressing as it would be in the winter for me anyway. Have you thought about a backup generator?

We have a generator, yes! It wasn’t functional at the time, but since then, we’ve got it up and running.
